In January 2024, Trezor experienced a significant data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 66,000 customers. The breach occurred due to unauthorized access to a third-party support ticketing portal used by Trezor. The exposed data included users' names, email addresses, and potentially postal addresses and phone numbers, although Trezor does not believe the latter were compromised.
Despite the breach, Trezor has assured users that their digital assets remain secure and that no user funds were compromised. However, the exposed information has put users at risk of phishing attacks, with 41 confirmed cases of attackers attempting to trick users into revealing their recovery seeds.
Trezor has taken steps to mitigate the risk by terminating unauthorized access, notifying affected users, and advising them to be cautious of phishing attempts. Users are reminded never to disclose their recovery seeds, as these are critical for maintaining the security of their wallets
